This work discusses one of the chapters from, as well as the second printing of, Professor Jale Baysal’s 1968 dated doctoral dissertation "Books Published by Ottoman Turks from Muteferrika until the First Constitutionalist Period" as an example of how one can continuously revise a text without ever being completely satisfied with its outcome Because of its significant place in the literature, Dr. Baysal’s work, and the story behind it, can function as an important guide to those engaged in research on Turkish publication practices, Turkish librarianship, the Turkish educational system, and the history of Turkish scholarship.
